With a Name Like That, He Was Bound To Be Good

Sounds like a good man (click picture if you want the fine print).  They say he might have called the top a little early on that Kawarau Falls move but hey, as another William Rees said: "Nobody ever went broke taking gains."

Obligatory shot of William, his ram Bojangles, and I:

  1. Must be nice to see Rees spelled correctly for a change. Now you need to find Thomas Mason. We know Thomas was the botanist who first catalogued the horticulture of NZ and your great-great-great-great grandfather. He emigrated to Petone NZ in April, 1841 (so he would have been a contemporary of William Rees's) He settled in Wellington, founded the Wellington Botanic Garden and his home was "The Gums" at Taita in the Hutt -- not sure if it is still there. Might be fun to find out!
